We are MacGregor's at the Ben, an independent bar and boutique hotel that wants to share the best in Highland hospitality for the local and the visitor. We live and breathe the spirit of the ceilidh and truly welcome the world.

The 6 bedroom boutique hotel with two bars features the best in Highland craft beers and spirits and an amazing menu put together by our head chef. This is a venue for family gatherings, concerts, ceilidhs and fun!

Scotland's modern-day bar, we provide a local hub for the community offering great food, drink and music. Our boutique accommodation is now available, and as the exact mid-point on the North Coast 500, we offer the ideal stopping point for the weary traveller.

With Dunrobin Castle just a stone’s throw away, the Ben Bhraggie dates back to 1829 constructed as the Aberdeen Town and County Bank. As a half-way house between Inverness and Wick,  the “Ben” has been an ideal stop off point for travellers over the years and we hope that travelling musicians will be tempted in for some of the famous “MacGregor bar” music sessions.

Since opening our first bar in Inverness on St Andrew's Night 2017, we have been awarded:

  • Best Independent Bar of the Year (Scottish Licensed Trade Awards 2021)

  • Business Resilience Award (Highland Business Awards 2021)

  • Best Bar in Scotland (Visit Scotland Thistle Awards 2019)

  • Best Live Music Bar (Scottish Licensed Trade Awards 2019)

  • Best Concept Bar (Scottish Licensed Trade Awards 2018)

  • Best Bar in the Highlands (Highland Tourism Awards 2018)

We are committed to bringing this level of excellence to our new venture in Golspie.

MacGregor's - Where Scotland welcomes the world.

Situated in the beautiful village of Golspie on the North Coast 500, and only a stones throw from the beach this family owned hotel has just been renovated to provide comfortable accommodation.

MacGregor's beer and fiddle

We are passionate and proud about Scotland's history and culture, and just as importantly, we are excited about Scotland's leading role in the craft beer and spirit revolution. Not only do we stock some of the finest whisky, gin and spirits Scotland has to offer, we have a ridiculously brilliant range of beer in kegs, casks and bottles.

At MacGregor's, music is an incredibly important part of who we are. Our founder, Bruce MacGregor, is not only one of the original and current members of Scottish supergroup Blazin Fiddles, the presenter of BBC Scotland's Travelling Folk, but also one of Scotland's finest traditional musicians. You'll often find Bruce and his friends playing tunes in our bar.

There will also be regular nights with singers, pianists and musicians of all genres.
